ANDERSON, SC A man pled guilty to murder Tuesday afternoon in an Anderson County courthouse.
Walter Chase Alley pled guilty to the July 18, 2011 murder of 86-year-old Glenn Craft. According to the 10th Circuit Solicitor's Office, Alley admitted to shooting Craft during a burglary at Craft's home in Belton. Alley turned himself into authorities the very next day.
After hearing evidence against Alley, Judge J.C. Nicholson accepted the plea on the condition that he was mentally ill. Nicholson sentenced Alley to 37 years in jail and will be sent to the South Carolina Department of Mental Health Facility before he is sent to the Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
