Rapper DMX Out On Bond After Spartanburg County Arrest

Rapper DMX, known as Earl Simmons, was released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center Wednesday morning after being charged with driving without a license.

Simmons was arrested in Spartanburg County and booked into jail around 2:00 a.m.

In the incident report, the deputy claims he was aware Simmons didn't have a valid driver's license because he had been issued tickets for the offense in Greer and Duncan. The deputy claimed he knew the charge in Greer was still pending.

The deputy says he checked the status and learned the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles had only issued him an I.D. card.

The deputy pulled over Simmons after he drove away from the store in a 1978 Buick. The owner of the car was a passenger in the vehicle and had the Buick turned over to him when Simmons was arrested.

Simmons was granted a bond of $237 Wednesday morning by a Spartanburg County magistrate.

He posted cash and is out of the detention center.  

Simmons was arrested in a Phoenix suburb in 2011 after a trooper clocked him driving at 102 mph. He had recently finished a stint in prison on probation revocation for failing to submit to drug testing and driving without a license.
