There have now been 501 mass shootings in the U.S. this year.
Driving the news: A shooting that wounded four people in Denver, Colorado, on Saturday night marked the country's 500th mass shooting in 2023, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
Hours later, that increased to 501 mass shootings after one person died and five others were wounded in El Paso, Texas, early Sunday.
By the numbers: Just five years ago, the country had never experienced 500 mass shootings in one year:
2018: 335 mass shootings
2019: 414 mass shootings
2020: 610 mass shootings
2021: 689 mass shootings
2022: 645 mass shootings

I wish our people would WAKE UP, and see the wisdom of closing the borders.
Borders ought to be closed immediately in America. There is literally no excuse to argue against this. This should be a zero tolerance thing right

People who were never slaves are demanding compensation from people who never owned slaves. Worse, some of the people demanding compensation had ancestors who were willing participants of the slave trade and profited from it. Others, are descendants of slaves and find themselves lumped in with the slave owners by virtue of their skin colour. I can honestly say that the only person I know who really was a slave at one time, was my great aunt who spent several years in a gulag for the crime of being a member of a defeated nation.

I'm black American and I knew from grade school that whites were sent to America as indentured slaves. But your presentation really helped me to better understand how the term "indentured slave" was just sugar coating
the fact that the Irish were slaves and if they had a contract, it could be
easily sold to the next slave owner. Due to slave rebellions, it made since to disallow the enslavement of white people at some point, so that the slave owners would not be out numbered. Wealth and greed ruled back than and
it still rules today.
This is an excellent, clear-eyed examination of Irish "forced-relocation"
or slavery. Too often the question of Irish slavery has been swept under
the rug or dismissed as only indentured servitude. As you pointed out,
at least some of the contracts would still exist if this was the case. The contract of my English ancestor Thomas Mudd who came over to Maryland, still exists.
As an Irishman who knows for a fact some of my ancestors
were sold into slavery, thank you. I'm tired of hearing how my
ancestors who were victims of slavery are somehow responsible
for slavery even though some fought off the boat in the civil war
to end slavery.
I have A LOT of Irish blood flowing through my veins. The Irish slaves
were absolutely hated by everyone here in America. It was not unusual
to see help wanted signs that read, "No Irish need apply". Irish were
treated worse than dogs. In fact, there were places that allowed dogs
and not Irish.Many Irish slaves were shipped in crates, like animals. These crates
were roughly 3'X 4'. They were stacked on the decks of the ships and
their inhabitants were subject to the elements and sewage from others. The evil of man is not determined by the color of their skin, but by the treatments of those around them. Irish people are among the fairest of
skin. Africans are among the darkest of skin. Both have been abused,
and both have abused. If schools would show history in its true light,
this would be evident. The powers that be, won't have it. They thrive
on animosity, hatred and inflicting chaos and sorrow. Woe to them
when the day comes that the Light of the World, Jesus Christ returns
to judge the quick and the dead.God be with you brothers and sisters of all colors. Remember, if we
can't love one another here, there is no place for us in heaven.
