A man who committed two armed rapes -- one in which he ripped the wedding ring off the finger of his kidnapped victim -- has pleaded guilty.
Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walk Wilkins said Tuesday that Antwon Marcees Rogers, 31, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual conduct, first-degree kidnapping and armed robbery.
Evidence showed that Rogers went into the room of a motel guest at the Quality Inn in Easley on July 27, 2015, pushed a woman onto a bed and raped her at knifepoint. Rogers then forced the woman into a bathroom and stole her cellphone and $250 before he was caught on surveillance video running from the room.
About two weeks later, on Aug. 9, 2015, Rogers found a woman renting a Red Box movie near a closed Dollar General Store in Pickens County. Rogers pointed a .38-caliber pistol at the woman, and when she turned around, he tore the woman’s wedding ring off her finger, breaking bones. He then pistol whipped her in the head and raped her, before forcing her into the trunk of her car.
Rogers drove the woman to a secluded area off Anderson Road in Greenville County where he forced her out of the trunk and raped her again at gunpoint.
Rogers stole the woman’s car and drove it to the Red Roof Inn in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
The woman was eventually able to run to a nearby home where she got someone to call 911.
Investigators with the Pickens and Greenville county sheriff’s offices found Rogers in Hendersonville. When he was arrested, Rogers had the second woman’s car, wedding ring, other items he had stolen from her and the .38-caliber handgun, deputies said.
