Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Manhunt In Newberry County, SC

A man wanted for robbing a 73-year-old man in Newberry County was arrested after a manhunt.

  Christopher Walton David, 43, of Chapin, was charged with strong armed robbery and is facing charges of assault and battery on a police officer while resisting arrest. 
A man wanted for robbing a 73-year-old man while he was pumping gas in Newberry County was arrested after lengthy manhunt Thursday afternoon.
Newberry County Sheriff's Off. investigators were searching for David, who was wanted for robbing a man at the Quick Food Mart in Pomaria on Wednesday, on Lazy Brook Road in Chapin after they received information that he was in the area. An investigator found David and attempted to arrest him. However, David resisted and managed to break free and run into the woods.
Officers from the Sheriff's Office, Lexington County Sheriff's OfficeChapin Police Department and State Law Enforcement Division all responded and utilized bloodhounds and the SLED helicopter during the search. Ninety minutes later, David was found hiding under a thick underbrush on Meadowlark Road and was taken into custody without further incident.
