Near Disaster at LAX: Wrong Turn After Takeoff

The amount the pilots and traffic controllers have to know is so specific and massive it is honestly surprising this doesn't happen more often.

I remember back in the day when I visited the control tower at Heathrow. I vividly remember a big 747 took off, I think it was KLM, and it started to bank left. One of the ATC's stood up and said "where's he going?..." then the plane corrected and started banking right. I've never forgotten it!
