June 20 trial date set for Sidney Moorer in Heather Elvis case
Sidney Moorer will go on trial starting June 20 on the remaining kidnapping and obstruction of justice charges, court documents state.
A trial date for Tammy Moorer has not been set.
According to a scheduling order filed Tuesday, the Horry County clerk of court's office will mail out 800 juror summons and questionnaires on May 2. Responses are due by June 2, and the Horry County sheriff's office will be notified of any no responses on June 3.
Jury selection begins June 20 and will continue into the week of June 27, if necessary, the order continues.
According to other dates listed in the scheduling order, the deadline for filing all pre-trial motions is Monday, April 4. Pre-trial motions must be heard by April 18, the order states.
Earlier this month, 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson dismissed murder and indecent exposure charges that had been filed against the Moorers.
Sidney and Tammy Moorer still face kidnapping charges. They also face to fraud-related charges filed in June 2014 by the state attorney general's office. Sidney Moorer still faces one count of obstruction of justice, court records state.
All of the charges except the fraud counts were in relation to the disappearance of Heather Elvis, who was last heard from Dec. 18, 2013. She hasn't been seen since.
Also on Tuesday a consent order was filed formally granting the solicitor's office permission to issue a news release about the dismissed murder charges.
