Spartanburg Co. Sheriff Deputies Say Man Intended To Sexually Assault A Jogger

A woman said she was running on West Autumn Ridge Road in Moore after 7:00 p.m. when she said she heard footsteps behind her. The woman stopped and said the man asked for directions, but then grabbed her by the waist and shoulder.
Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man they say tried to sexually assault a jogger.
Kenneth Wayne Watts is charged with assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct third degree after the reported attack on Tuesday night.
The woman fought off the man who then ran away, but she ran after him. The victim followed him - while calling 911 and her husband - to a home on Smith Road.
A deputy talked to Watts, 46, who claimed he was "going to rape" the woman according to the SCSO incident report.
Watts was arrested and taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he was being held Thursday on $50,000 bond.
