Judge Smoak Sentenced Russell F. Berg on 8 charges -- the longest 10 years -- and ordered they run concurrently. Suspended To Probation.
Sentencing had been postponed last week after Mr. Berg's lawyer, Andrew ( Andy ) Savage, requested his client be sent to Alpha Human Services, a nonprofit organization in Minnesota that says it is the only "community-based, noninstitutional, inpatient program exclusively treating sex offenders in the United States."
Russell Berg entered an Alford plea in June to eight charges with a combined penalty of 65 years. In an Alford plea, the defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges a jury would likely convict based on the evidence. ..
