Most of the shooting was before the cops could get there or do anything - some went in almost immediately and returned fire trying to stop him, but he went into the bathroom and had hostages there. He didn't shoot any of them immediately, but was threatening to and eventually, the cops had to go in because he had given them a timeline (though what it was he wanted, I don't know - I did read in an article that he wasn't asking for or demanding much ) He was planning to shoot more people and die at the scene most likely. Just awful ...
Police were hoping to get him to stand down and come out, or find some way to get a tactical advantage to save the lives of the hostages -- some reports have already said it is likely some more people were shot in the crossfire from the shootout with the gunman at the end. That's what they wanted to avoid ... No Win Situation For No One ....
Blame the Shooter Not The Police Trying To Save Lives .......
